Trump & his Bedminster Golf Course certainly exemplify The American Whore. Many are infuriated by Trump hosting this event at his private golf club in New Jersey. The LIV Golf Tournament in August 2022 is a major professional golf event. But the LIV golf organization is funded and financed by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.
Trump certainly has every right to host and profit off this event. But as former (and possibly future) President many US Citizens, especially those who lost loved ones in the “9-11” attacks on the US, are livid. Additionally, many have blamed the Saudi Arabian government for the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, in addition to the many human rights violations that the world accuses the Saudi Arabian government of conducting.
But in a typical Trump, “I never back down” comment, he told the Wall Street Journal, “I think LIV has been a great thing for Saudi Arabia, for the image of Saudi Arabia,”. But this is not unprecedented for any American, as profits will always be first and foremost.
